The Mildura Emerging Indigenous E-Media Mentorship Project invited five First Nations and one East Timorese emerging artists from isolated / regional communities who are working with digital media and interdisciplinary projects. The project fostered new opportunities for these artists to explore the potential of digital media to articulate the significance of contemporary inland and regional art practice, aimed at shifting intercultural ground and understandings of the vitality and potential of such practice.
A new initiative in 2015 and an expansion of the core traditional Mildura Palimpsest Biennale Inland Residency Program, this project is specifically aimed at creating opportunities for young and emerging artists to work in collaboration with local Paakantji, Mutthi Mutthi, Ngiyampaa and Latje Latje peoples and also with visiting artist mentors / senior artists-in-residence at Mungo and in Mildura.
